How to Ensure Newborn Photography Safety

The arrival of a new baby is an exciting time filled with love and joy. As a new parent, you want to capture every precious moment of your little one’s life, making newborn photography a must-do. However, safety is paramount, and finding a skilled photographer who takes safety seriously is vital. In this article, we will look at some tips on how to ensure newborn photography safety.

Choose the Right Photographer for You and Your Baby

When deciding on a photographer for your newborn’s shoot, it’s crucial to consider their experience in newborn photography. A seasoned newborn photographer knows how to create beautiful pictures while keeping your baby safe. Moreover, experienced photographers understand the importance of setting up a safe environment, handling the baby with care, and capturing beautiful photos.

Determine the Ideal Time for the Photo Shoot

Timing is everything when it comes to newborn photography. The best time to schedule a photo shoot is when the baby is between five and fourteen days old. During this time, the baby is still flexible, sleeps a lot, and doesn’t mind being moved around. Ideally, newborn photography sessions should be short-lasting no more than three hours.

Create a Safe Environment

Safety should be the top priority during a newborn photo shoot. The environment should be warm, comfortable, and free from distractions. Additionally, the photographer should have everything they need within arms reach, including wipes, nappies, and feeding supplies.

Posing Done Correctly

Some poses used in newborn photography are composites and should only be done as such. (A composite is where more than one image is put together to form the final image.)For example, ‘froggy pose’…….Hands are always on the baby supporting the head and the wrists. Find a photographer that focuses on safe poses and techniques that pose no risks to your baby.

Follow COVID-19 Precautions

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, safety measures should be taken when going for a photoshoot. Choose a photographer who takes the necessary precautions to sanitize all props and equipment, and ensure a clean, sanitized environment. Additionally, avoid bringing more people than necessary to the shoot.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, newborn photography can lead to picture-perfect memories, but safety comes first. Choosing an experienced and skilled photographer with newborn photography safety in mind is essential. Creating a comfortable, safe environment, scheduling a short shoot, posing correctly, and following COVID-19 precautions are ways to ensure that your baby remains safe throughout the session. By following these tips, you can relax, enjoy the photo shoot, and treasure moments of your little one forever.

Tips on What to Wear for Your Family Photography Session

Tips on What to Wear for Your Family Photography Session

Family photography sessions are a great way to capture memories with your loved ones that will last a lifetime. However, one of the biggest challenges that people face when booking a photography session is what to wear. Choosing the right outfits can help you look your best and truly capture the essence of your family. In this blog post, we will give you some tips on what to wear for your family photography session, so you can have the best experience possible.

Coordinate your outfits

When dressing your family for a photography session, it is important to coordinate your outfits. This doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone should wear the same color, but rather that the colors complement each other. You can also choose a color palette and have everyone wear different shades of that color. Additionally, you can also choose a theme, such as bohemian or nautical, and dress accordingly.

Choose comfortable clothing

While it is important to look good for your family photography session, it is also important to be comfortable. Make sure to choose clothing that is comfortable to wear and allows you to move around freely. Avoid clothing that is too tight or too loose, as this can be unflattering in photos.

Avoid labels and logos

When choosing clothing for your family photography session, it is best to avoid clothing with labels or logos. These can be distracting in photos and take away from the overall aesthetic. Instead, opt for simple, classic pieces that will stand the test of time.

Consider the location and season

Another important factor to consider when choosing your outfits is the location and season of your photography session. If you are doing a beach session in the summer, consider wearing light, flowy fabrics that will keep you cool. If you are doing a fall session in the park, consider wearing cozy sweaters and boots. It is also important to consider the colors of the surroundings and choose outfits that will complement them.

Accessorize

Finally, don’t be afraid to accessorize for your family photography session. Adding a scarf, hat, or statement jewelry can elevate your outfits and add some personality. However, it is important to not go overboard with accessories, as this can be distracting in photos.

Conclusion:

Choosing the right outfits for your family photography session is important for capturing memories that will last a lifetime. By coordinating your outfits, choosing comfortable clothing, avoiding labels and logos, considering the location and season, and accessorizing, you can ensure that your family looks their best in photos. Remember to have fun with it and let your personality shine through!

Baby Raine | Newborn Photoshoot | Houston

Rain’s Newborn Photoshoot | Houston

Meet handsome baby Raine! He was in the studio a week or so ago for his newborn photoshoot.  I had LOTS of fun with baby Raine placing him in all the different newborn props.

I started Raine’s newborn photo shoot with family photographs.  His parents chose the Small Wonders Newborn Session with added family option. Then I took sibling pictures with his big sister, Ariel.  I always love doing those during my newborn sessions. I took Ariel’s newborn pictures two years ago. I can’t believe it has been that long.

After the sibling shots, I swaddled Raine in a pretty hunter green wrap and placed him in a bowl. Then I added a bonnet. He looked so cute with the bonnet tied beneath his chubby little cheeks and chin.

Next up I used a blue tuck wrap from Home Sewn Photography props and topped it off with a matching sleepy hat. Oh my, he looked so sweet as he slept.

After the bowl, I switched over to one of my mini newborn prop beds. These are always a client’s favorite. I went with gray to match his parent’s home decor. I swaddled him doing the wrap in a criss-cross fashion.

Finally, I ended the shoot with the bucket shots. Navy blue and light blue were chosen this time. I also added greenery around the bucket. I got photos of him on his back and then with his chin on his hands. He stayed asleep for his whole session!

I adored working with Raine and his family for his newborn photoshoot. AND I love his name!
